The Evidence

"We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us." –2 Corinthians 5:20
Years ago, a question made its way around Christian circles: If you were arrested for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?
I thought of this question recently as I listened to the accolades pouring in from around the world for President Jimmy Carter, who died on December 29, 2024 at the age of 100. President Carter, along with being the 39th President of the United States, was continuously referred to as a man of faith. He was a Christian whose deeds spoke louder than his words, although his words certainly carried weight, too. At the forefront of his life was evidence of service to God and others.
I have no doubt if the Apostle Paul were alive today, he would have commended President Carter as “Christ’s ambassador.” Home may have been Plains, Georgia for Jimmy Carter, but his citizenship was in heaven (Phil. 3:20), and his actions reflected it.
Being President of the United States opened doors and presented opportunities to Carter the rest of us can only imagine. But each of us can make a difference in someone’s life; some way, somehow. With a little cooperation from us, God can make “His appeal through us” to others. As 2025 gets underway, be on the lookout for these moments, my friends. And give glory to God!
Dear Lord, thank You for making us Your ambassadors, and for providing opportunities each day to share Your love and compassion with others. Let Your light shine in and through us for Your glory, honor, and praise. Amen.
